G98 & G86 core comparison

The day before we had a post of a GPU-Z screen capture of NVIDIA code name G98(D8M), and now we’ve got the G98 core shot. (also have a G86 for comparison)

From the comparing we can see that the PCB of G98 and G96 is the same. all 23*23mm^2. But G98’s core is small: about 85.5mm^2(9.5*9mm). The G86 core is 126.5mm^2. the reduction of the core is because NV using 65nm technicque to manufacture.

G98 is only the G86’s shrink version. Yes, G98 have full VC-1 decode support, but adding this support don’t need too many transistors. From the size of the core we even think G98 will still have 16 stream processor, NV may only ban 8SP and keep aonther half, make it like it’s rumored that G98 only have 8 SP.
