3DMark06 16496! OCed G92-8800GTS boost 15% performance up
Tomorrow NVIDIA will unveils G92-8800GTS, so before that we find a retail version of Zotac 8800GTS 512MB and have a stock cooler OC test. Because Rivatuner V2.06 do not recognize G92-8800GTS , we have to use nTune. Before overclocking we adjust stock fan to full speed.
Till now nTune still don’t have option for shader standalone overclock. If the software have that option we think the score can get even higher.
Test bed:
Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme QX9650 OC 400MHz X10
Asustek P5E3 Deluxe/Wifi-AP with 2GB Kingston DDR3-1066 6-6-6-18-1T
WD 3200YS
Zippy G1 600W
Windows Vista 32bit 6001 with ForceWare 169.12 beta with Modded .infÂ

G92-8800GTS with full speed fan, OC to 800/1100/2000MHz(Core/Memory/Shader)
In our test we have to lower the highest frequency we get in ATITool’s find highest mem, from 1110MHz lower to 1100MHz. Shader auto overclock to 2000MHz according to the 2.5 GPU/shader proportion. The overlock finally get 16496 in 3Dmark06. So there is about 15% comparing to the 14235, the stock clock 8800GTS’s score on our platform .

First of all, I’ve been reading your blog for a few days now and it’s top notch! Keep up the great work!
Anyway, nVidia is supposed to announce this tomorrow, but any ideas if this could make it in my Christmas stocking this year?

[…] NVIDIA introducing new card by unveiling their reference version first. So thisZotac’s 8800GTS 512MB is a 100%reference version. Using the P939 PCB design we pervious seem on 8800GT, and also Qimonda’s HYB18H512321BF-10 DDR3 memory chips.Default frequency at 650/1625/1944MHz(core/shader/mem). And don’t forget it have a very good ocbility. […]

I bought Zotac 8800GTS 512mb yesterday, tuned it, and
very satisfied with this card. I need to upgrade my PSU
from 390W to 510W though, this card was unstable when
I used the 390W PSU.
I’ve found a way to “fix” Riva Tuner v2.06 and
enlist the G92 GTS 512mb into the detection list.
Now I can Over Clock the card using modified RivaTuner
from 650/1625/972 (core/shader/memory)
to 815/2025/1100 (core/shader/memory)
and I achieved 3dmark06 (Basic) score of : 15,623
To modify RivaTuner v2.06, all you need to do is
edit the RivaTuner.cfg file, edit the line :
[GPU_10DE]
G92 = 610h-61Fh
change the value to “600h-61Fh”
Well, it works for my Vista32, I prefer to use
RivaTuner because of its monitoring chart and
individual OC the shader clock.
Hope my informations here can help.
