9600GT to be the first product of Geforce 9 series [Update]

Update: SP number changed and PCB/Memory design confirmed, sorry for the mistakes we make earlier.

NVIDIA will debut Geforce 9 series on valentine’s day, 2008. According to source inside NVIDIA, the first product of Geforce 9 series will be GeForce 9600 GT, aka D9P.

9600GT’s GPU is a 65nm processing chip. We already seem this tech on G92/D8P and G98/D8M. G80 and G86 have been EOLed, and G84 will also be EOL when the valentine’s day comes.

Source also tells some specs of the nex-gen GPU D9P. The core clocks at 500MHz while memory at 2000MHz, GPU will have 64SP (8800GS will be 96SP 192bit 384MB). It is a main-stream product and only have one SLI connector so it can not support 3-Way SLI.

And here is some unconfirmed info: GeForce 9600 GT may pin-to-pin to 8800GT,that means they will use the same PCB. Also the memory will be 256bit, GPU supports DX 10.1 and ShaderModel 4.1, and the card have the same HD playback ability as G98.

We just confirm that GeForce 9600 GT uses P545 PCB design (not 8800GT’s P393 PCB design), and the memory will be 256bit 512MB, still don’t know support DX10.1 or not .

Different from NVIDIA’s “hi-end unveils first” strategy, this time GeForce 9600 GT will be the first product of 9series. We are sure the product’s proformance will lower than 8800GT, and its rival will be Radeon HD 3850 and the upcoming RV635.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong WRONG….The P in D9P stands for Performance, the M in D9M stands for Mainstream and the E in D9E stands for Enthusiast..Soo you guys are trying to tell us that the new D9P (performance GPU) is gonna be slower than the older performance GPU`s from nvidia?
Oh Please, if you cant get real info then dont even bother spreading this bull.
The next gpu out from nvidia will be a dual gpu like the GeForce 7950 GX2.This will be out in january and is known as the D9E.In february the new D9P will come out that is faster than current GTX and GT.The new mainstream cards will come out a few months later.

sid you are slightly incorrect. the dual card coming out in January is D8E not D9E and all it will be is two G92 cards in the same format as the old 7950gx2. D9 is the next all new architecture. The 9600GT will likely be D9P but who knows for sure.

This cant be true.. I expected something to be much better than the ultra.

  6. Ferrarienzo Says:

I think the 9600GT will be the D9P also and the D9E being the 9800 series. Is expreview trust-able?

    to sid:
Everybody knows the P in D9P stands for Performance, but i think the 9600GT will replace the 8600GTS not the 8800GT/GTS,so the 9600GT is a little slower than the 8800GT/GTS,and faster than the 8600GTS

  8. sid Says:

Thanks for the reply no6,i sure could be wrong but others are saying im not and its a bit of a guessing game atm.

Of course nVidia can sell the old GPU design as long as possible, until they have to release next 9th generation from their R&D Labs. For now, AMD-ATI is unable to compete with even current generation, why to go from stable and end-user well-known brand to something new without stable drivers and unfinished DirectX 11 feature specification at all? The current sales will support the next generation developement financially far more better than just by release of new card. After all, all OEM Mf’s are selling as fast as their factories can assemble, why rise their risks of troubles in product/assembly developement for new nVidia chips?

I’ve read on fudzilla that the price of the 9800GX2 will end up at a whopping 700USD

Бесплатный сыр, есть только в мышеловке. Но отнюдь, нашол транспортную компанию в интеренете, которая осуществила переезд, недорого и качественно.
