Of course nVidia can sell the old GPU design as long as possible, until they have to release next 9th generation from their R&D Labs. For now, AMD-ATI is unable to compete with even current generation, why to go from stable and end-user well-known brand to something new without stable drivers and unfinished DirectX 11 feature specification at all? The current sales will support the next generation developement financially far more better than just by release of new card. After all, all OEM Mf's are selling as fast as their factories can assemble, why rise their risks of troubles in product/assembly developement for new nVidia chips?

to sid:
Everybody knows the P in D9P stands for Performance, but i think the 9600GT will replace the 8600GTS not the 8800GT/GTS,so the 9600GT is a little slower than the 8800GT/GTS,and faster than the 8600GTS

sid you are slightly incorrect. the dual card coming out in January is D8E not D9E and all it will be is two G92 cards in the same format as the old 7950gx2. D9 is the next all new architecture. The 9600GT will likely be D9P but who knows for sure.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong WRONG....The P in D9P stands for Performance, the M in D9M stands for Mainstream and the E in D9E stands for Enthusiast..Soo you guys are trying to tell us that the new D9P (performance GPU) is gonna be slower than the older performance GPU`s from nvidia?
Oh Please, if you cant get real info then dont even bother spreading this bull.
The next gpu out from nvidia will be a dual gpu like the GeForce 7950 GX2.This will be out in january and is known as the D9E.In february the new D9P will come out that is faster than current GTX and GT.The new mainstream cards will come out a few months later.
