For now, AMD-ATI is unable to compete with even current generation, why to go from stable and end-user well-known brand to something new without stable drivers and unfinished DirectX 11 feature specification at all? The current sales will support the next generation developement financially far more better than just by release of new card. After all, all OEM Mf's are selling as fast as their factories can assemble, why rise their risks of troubles in product/assembly developement for new nVidia chips? Of course nVidia can sell the old GPU design as long as possible, until they have to release next 9th generation from their R&D Labs. D9 is the next all new architecture.
