
Following Palit and ASUS, XFX rolling out 8800GS finally. The PCB is self-designed by XFX and using black PCB for sure, the cooler is single slot, looks better than Palit’s.

The card is only for HTPC or light gaming so it is not suited for extreme gamers. As you can see in the following pics, the card is low-profile designed, with a changeable I/O metal backboard. The GPU is G98, but NVIDIA decided G98 to stay in GeForce 8 series.

Hardware site PConline post a early review of 9600GT, They run 9 games plus 3Dmark06. here is part of it. The tesbed they are using is QX6800(266×11), Gigabyte P35-DQ6, 2G DDR2 800, with ForceWare 171.16 beta For Vista,ForceWare 169.23 For Vista and Catalyst 7.12 For Vista.

The core of 9500GT is G96, aka D9M. The card is for main stream market, will replace 8500GT series. The code on the chip will be G96-300. G96 will use PCB design P727 and P729. P727 is 6 layer PCB,can equip with GDDR3 memory. P729 only have 4 layer, and it is for DDR2 memory setup and provides displayPort.
