What’s the upcoming mobo from NVIDIA? NVIDIA 790i ultra SLI!

SLI platform line-up. The doc did not list 790i Ultra SLI we guess the Ultra one is just a recent add-on like 8800GS.
NVIDIA will launch a new enthusiast, ultra high end motherboard, the 790i ultra SLI. Similar to Intel’s X38 to X48 upgrade, the 790i Ultra SLI adds more OCbility based on 790i SLI mobo.
The chipset of 790i Ultra SLI is the same with 790i SLI’s. But 790i Ultra SLI’s chipset is selected chips, manufacturing costs will higher than 100 USD.
The NVIDIA 790i Ultra SLI supports the EPP2 memory technology. EPP2 is for DDR3 memory, like EPP is for DDR2. The mobo will launch after 790i SLI.

I really cannot understand nvidia’s and intel’s love for DDR3. We are talking minimal gains here and they ask for more than triple the money for the DDR3 modules. What kind of industry is this i cannot understand. There are millions of very capable and very affordable DDR2 chips that are waiting to be sold. At least they should give users the option to use either DDR2 or DDR3.

So anybody know if the 790i chipset is going to be backwards compatible w/ DDR2!?
DDR2 memory is at rock bottom prices at the moment (2gigs for under $40)…there’s no justifying spending over $200 for 2 gigs of DDR3.

Computer industry is just teasing me. Every day they release new gagets and force users to buy that by ads promos, You know that this mobo is only for DDR3 and if you check the DDR3 price then you will find that for 2 GIGs of low latency its 450$ averge. Weired.
