More details about Sapphire HD 3690

Those HD 3690 is all made by Triplex, but not this one. Sapphire’s HD 3690 use their self-designed PCB. The card supports PowerPlay, and factory-overclock to 701/1800MHz(core/memory). It seems to be the fastest HD 3690 card.
The quick bench and specs is posted in our earlier post.

The cooler uses heatpipe and automatic temperature control Fan.

This card is curiously very similar to Sapphire’s own HD 3870 non reference version card previewed in this site not too long ago. If the production cost of HD 3850/3870 card is indeed much lower compared to 8800 GT one, i think ATi should stop jerking around and not overcharging for its product.
I used to be a big ATi fanboy, but i felt cheated last December when i decided to upgrade, and found a mind boggling fact that the cheapest HD 3870 was still about 15 US$ more expensive compared to the cheapest 8800 GT 512 MB. So i said screw them, my money went to the green team.

Its the stupid retailers that are doing the price fixing/gouging. But I also think ATI is limiting/controlling the inventory which is driving up prices also. So both ATI and the retailers are responsible… close to price fixing in my opinion.
What I don’t understand is why so many cards lately are coming out with DDR3 instead of the standard DDR4 that comes with real 3870 cards. Don’t they realize that DDR4 is a selling point? If ATI really wanted to improve sales, they would come out with lifetime warranties like most Nvidia cards have.

hd3870 price is lower than 8800GT price. That’s in general at least in my country. For about even more than 50€

Yeah, here the 8800GT prices are way higher than of HD 3870’s.

Here in Greece the 3870 has the same price as the 8800 gt 256mb!

Well here in Latvia too, but 8800 gt 256mb can`t outperform 3850 512mb version and even can`t beat 256mb version @ high resolutions. I actually bought myself 3870 ddr4 on x-mas and I got it really cheap - whole 100$ cheaper than cheapest 8800gt at moment. Later I found out that they posted wrong price, but still couldn`t refuse my order
