[Review] XFX GeForce 8800 GS 384MB DDR3 XXX
Overclock test
We’ve already run a overclock test on Palit 8800GS. The final frequency of the Palit 8800GS 384MB is 720/1940MHz (core/memory). 25% and 14% more than Palit 8800GS 384MB’s default clock. After the overclock, we ran a 3Dmark06 and the score is 16.4 higher, from 10579 boosted to 12318.
But XFX 8800GS 384MB XXX is already factory overclocked, 105MHz higher than Palit version. So we don’t expect the card can be overclock a lot. Especially the memory chip, it is only a 1.4ns Qimonda, cheaper than the palit version. In our overclock test, XFX 8800GS 384MB XXX got stabled at 740/1620MHz. Compare to Palit version, XFX’s core is 20MHz higher but memory frequency is 220MHz lower.

After the overclock, the XFX 8800GS384MB XXX’s 3DMark06 score is 12054, 7.9% more than default. Beacuse of the memory chips, the card did not have so much OCbility like Palit’s.
Power consumption Test
In the test all cards we used is retail version. All the cards are in their default clock and using the default cooler. We use Seasonic PowerAngle to record the actual power consumption of the whole platform.

GeIL Plus+ DDR2-800 3-3-3-8 2.4V(Run:DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 1T)
Apack NV120 + Artic-Cooling 12CM Case Fan
Seagate 7200.10 160G
Acbel R8 607W

It seems XFX 8800GS 384MB XXX have a bit higher power consumption than other products.
