[Review] Zotac GeForce 8400GS 256MB aka. G98

Final thought

After our review on Zotac G98-8400GS, we notice it is far more better than the engineering sample we reviewed earlier. In some aspect this review make our ES review quite meaningless.

The card have a very good HD video playback ability, prove that the G98-8400GS is full of bugs. In H.264 and VC-1 decoding process the card keeps CPU utilization keeps within 5%, better than HD 2400 pro and HD 3450.

G98 only have 8SP, but a higher clock. In the test the performance is better than expected. In other words the card have a good HD video playback ability and standard 3D performance.

The Good:

integrated PureVideo HD Gen 3 engine, have decent HD video play back ability.

low-profile, bundled several I/O metal bars that can be change to fit the PC case.

Power module better than NVIDIA’s reference version.

DVI, HDMI, TV-out and VGA. Supports up to four different output solutions.

The Con:

Memory interface is wasted.
