Intel preparing a mini-ITX G45 mobo

Intel try to put G45 and a Quad CPU into a mini-ITX box. According to sources, Intel not only unleashing their Atom CPU and Centrino Atom platform, they also planning for a nimi-ITX G45 called DG45FC, FC for “Flying Creek”.
The mobo supports Intel Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Duo processors. The two memory slot supports up to 4GB DDR2 800MHz. Intel did not mention what graphic core the mobo will use, but we think it will be X4500HD which supports DX10.
The mobo will hit the market before June.

This is a killer board for HTPC use. You get full H.264 GPU decode and choose between 45nm Core 2 Duo or Quad for your CPU.

This is rather interesting for use with HTPCs, you can utilize 45nm Penryn with 4Gb of 800MHz RAM. Quite powerful for HTPC use.

This would make an awesome HTPC mobo but I would prefer one that I can keep running around the clock for media server use. This would require power consumption of 50W or less. However, the processor alone is classified as 65W, so obviously it will consume a lot more than my ideal. However, if it were usable with a passive PSU, say 100W, I’d be happy to get one of these.

This is will a perfect MobilePC. Imagine watching TV, playing game, phone, and GPS tracking in one machine. Current ITX does not have enough graphics power to for gaming. All we need now is a TV/GPS module for mini-PCI.

I didn’t see anything regarding a soldered processor in the specs so I assume you can use most LGA775 compatible processors. Most likely, any Core 2 based desktop chip (including Celeron Conroe-L 35W, Celeron Dual-Core and Pentium Dual-Core) would work. The processors rarely use the full 65W anyway. Iirc, 45nm processors only use 3W idle. You’ll probably only reach or exceed it if oc’ing.
This seems like an excellent mobo for HTPC use. Hopefully, we’ll get more PCI express low profile TV tuners.

The only question is, will they ever release this kind of board into retail market?
like Advansus, they make all kinds of great mini-itx mobo. but you can not see these babes in retail market, because they are all for industrial(POS/STB/Thin client Server/ VOD…….) usage…:(

This is rumoured to be the base for Apples new mac mini, if so then yes!

This would be perfect with an e7200 45nm processor. It consume very very little, especially when idle.
