Assassin’s Creed, first DX10.1 game?

Guys at Rage3D managed to run a huge test to find out DirectX 10.1 actually is boosting GFX performance in game “Assassin’s Creed”:

β€œThe impact that DX10.1 has is quite frankly greater than expected. A 20% improvement in AA performance is very impressive. GPU refreshes have been built around lesser gains. Based on the game’s behavior it’s possible that Ubi are doing their own Custom Resolve in order to get HDR correct AA, and are also taking advantage of the full access to MSAA buffers DX10.1 brings in order to get both better quality and better performance, but without an official statement we’d rather refrain from speculating further.”

But as a comparison, they should also run a Quad SLI setup to check the numbers. The Full article is right here.

  2. Socheat Says:

Event the latest 9900X2 still not support DX10.1 and SM 4.1

  3. deN Says:

    they dont want right now..

    9900 will support dx10.1

I THINK THAT ATI WILL BE THE COMING MONSTER

  5. SJ Says:

nVidia keeps doing this he’ll, die…?
    Will it?

The reason nVidia won’t support DX10.1 is because they can’t.. Not because they don’t want to. That’s the reason DX10 was actually split in DX10 and DX10.1 in the frist place. nVidia tried to implement all the features, but they couldn’t. That would mean that the 8xxx series would be released under DX9c even though it had more features and ofcourse, they didnt want that to happen, so they had an agreement with Microsoft to “split” it into DX10 and DX10.1, so they would have more time to implement the remaining features.

But unfortunately for nVidia, they still can’t get it to work properly. So now they are talking big about DX11. Remember all that MS-talk that DX10 would increase performance so much? And remember how everyone was disappointed with the benchmarks? And now see what happens when the first DX10.1 game is out.. It’s faster and has better image quality. So blame nVidia for setting you up in buying a DX10 card instead of a DX10.1 card and making you believe DX10.1 doesn’t matter, while it was the main performance increase in the first place….

lol ati who is that they lost the gfx war years ago now just accept it nvidia top dog always

  8. PSOLORD Says:

    @Wig
You are a bit unfair my friend. I will jut remind you 9700 pro and 1900XT. I will also remind you that ATI was the leader of gpu sales during q4/2007. Rest assured that more Qs will follow once HD 4XXX comes out!

It is your prerogative my friend to keep supporting a pimping company, that wants you to pay super expensive dual pc sandwich cards, with 3 months life span (9800GX2). Not to mention the “8800 GTX performing” 9800 GTX.

    Cheers!

  9. TC Says:

And of course all the Nvidia fanboys who CONSTANTLY went around proclaiming DX 10.1 as worthless. Idiots.

  10. martin Says:

hey, I need help…probably this question was discussed many times before, but once again…Im buying new PC and Im not sure about which GPU choose…is 9800gx2 worth that money? or is 3870×2 enough?

  11. Bob O Enrabador Says:

Martin, if you can wait like me, wait untill june/july for the the new ATI generation. For shure they will release some kind of “HD4870×2″, besides of course more powerfull it will be a PCI-E 2.0 card.

  12. Anonymous Says:

fuck shit you faggots better wait before you speak

  13. M'aiq Says:

    ATi rule. Nvidea suck.

Just wait, as someone else said, till june/july time to get a HD 4XXX x2. If you can’t wait, even a card for Β£40 is amazing, such as the ATi Radeon HD 3470 .

  14. M'aiq Says:

it supports dx 10.1 and sm 4.1 - nuff said?

  15. Dr No Says:

ATi may be great on Windows, but, don’t buy ATi if you want to run Linux… Their drivers are NOT on par with nVidia’s drivers. I have a Radeon and regret it because of my dual boot (Vista/Debian).
