[Review]XFX nForce 790i Ultra
nForce 790i Ultra Feature: PW Short cut and Broadcast
For lowering CPU and GPU communication latency and enhancing bandwidth, 790i chipset have two new technology called “Posted-Write Shortcut”(PWShort) and “Broadcast”, When users have a multiple card solution, these technology can make data package go though a shorter way.
PWShort let GPU #1 data directly go through north bridge and send to GPU#2, shorter the latency compare to the conventional SLI mobo.
The conventional SLI mobo GPU data package exchange path: GPU#1 > north bridge > CPU > north bridge > GPU#2. With PWShort it will not only lower the latency, but also lower CPU utilization.

Just like its names, “Broadcast” means a single CPU data package can be repeat by northbridge nultiple times, send to other GPU. This technology will also lower the CPU utilzation and FSB bandwidth usage.

But, both two technology is focus on SLI or 3-Way SLI, so it won’t affect a single card setup performance.

Hi,
fist I would thank you for your great job!!!
but I have a question I hope you’ll answer me:
I’d like to buy this mobo with OCZ Flex II XLC 2 x 1 Go PC16000 and a E8500, is it a good choice to do a good overclock ?
Thanks
