just wondering; if the 4870 has 2 power connectors how many will the 4870×2 have….. 4? that sounds pretty insane

No, the 4870×2 will simply have 1×6pin and 1×8pin or two 1×8pin… the 4870 only BARELY needs the second 6 pin because it uses 157watts max, which is only 7 watts over what the PCIe slot+1×6pin provides.
