DreamWorks turns to Intel for Nehalem and Larrabee

Nick Knupffer, the intel spokeman, unveiled in an interview that the famous animation maker DreamWorks will shift to Intel, using Nehalem processors and Larrabee accelerator units to create their first 3D film: Monsters vs. Aliens, which is slated for a March 2009 release.

Knupffer claimed Nehalem and Larrabee, the multi-core technologies “meet the increased demands of creating 3-D animated feature films.”In fact, DreamWorks had been so far cooperating with AMD. The Sherk 3 was created by AMD’s Quad-core Barcelona, but now AMD will be depressed.

Furthermore, Intel will also try in next-generation 3D viewing technologies on other platforms, such as home theater, personal computers, video games, online environments and mobile devices.
