R700 Previews Converge: Still works to be done

Today various websites have published their previews of the AMD next-generation flagship R700. Generally speaking, R700 achieves tremendous scaling over a single RV770, and outperforms GTX 280 a lot. (for the crysis, there’s other words)
Although sharing similar results, different attitudes come out. Some websites think the R700 matches the crown of performace, while not too expensive; However, others think R700 fails to be perfect under all resolutions, and fails to outstand in old games. What’s more, still works to be done on the driver.
Fortunately, R700 is announcing on 12th August. AMD has still one month to polish their flagship. On the other hand, time has been left to NVIDIA to catch up, the g200b or so. Let’s wait and see.

From most previews it appears to have a frame buffer of 1GB x 2. I am guessing you are quoting anandtech’s figures which can normally be relied upon but in this case seem to probably be wrong.
