HP provides warranty enhancement for NVIDIA’s faulty chips

Following Dell’s footstep, HP, as the largest PC manufacturer, launches a much larger guarantee for its faulty laptop today – the “Limited Warranty Service Enhancement”.

As the list shows, 24 series of Pavilion and Presario are included.HP not only provides new BIOSs but shipping repair as well, and similarly it also claim that the BIOSs can only alleviate the failure but won’t solve the problem completely.

The following symptoms apply to Pavilion dv2000 and Presario v3000 notebooks:

  • The notebook does not detect wireless networks and the wireless adapter is not detected in the Device Manager.

  • There is no video on the computer LCD panel or external monitor.

The following symptoms apply to the dv6000, dv9000 and v6000 series notebooks:

  • The notebook does not detect wireless networks and the wireless adapter is not detected in the Device Manager.

  • There is no video on the computer LCD panel or external monitor.

  • The notebook has no power and no active LEDs.

  • The notebook does not start.

  • The battery charge indicator light does not turn on when the battery is installed and the AC adapter is connected.

  • The notebook issues a single beep during boot indicating no power.

  • The external monitor functions but there is no image on the notebook LCD panel.

    Boo! Only for North Americans? WTF about the rest of the world? My friends DV6000 started to have these problems as her warranty ran out, sucks to live in Europe where HP don’t give a crap.

    Thanks for your write-up. I also think laptop computers have grown to be more and more popular these days, and now are sometimes the only form of computer included in a household. The reason being at the same time that they’re becoming more and more inexpensive, their processing power keeps growing to the point where they’re as strong as desktop computers from just a few years ago.
