According to sources, AMD will begin to optimize their naming scheme for their 45nm CPU: they will keep  Phenom X4/X3 brand, but numbers after it will have five digits.

Core i7 overclock feature changed

 

There’s always a demand for overclock, not only the elite overclocking community but also mobo vendors want Intel to change the plan, not limiting Core i7’s OCbility any more.

So Intel changed ideas recently, going to unlock memory ratios adjustments on Core i7 940 and 920. Before September Intel want this feature only exist in Core i7-965 XE.

Intel planning a price cut on its CPU line this fall

 

Intel is planning to cut several CPU’s prices, including Q8200, Q6600, E7300, E2220 and E2200. The price adjustment will be put into effect starting from October 19th. It’s believed that the price is adjusted for new products coming in the end of the year.

a sneak peak on intel’s September roadmap

 

Intel is going to roll out Core i7 in the end of this year, but they are not planning to release Havendale and Lynnfield until the end of 2009. However, the first half of 2009 is not a vacancy, Intel planing to launch several Core 2 CPU, they are Q8300, E7500, E5300 and E1500.From the roadmap we also can see that three Core i7 is coming in Q4 this year.

RV710 architecture disclosed

 

Radeon HD 4550 is going to ship at the end of September, but some of the documents have already been found, and the architecture of RV710 have been disclosed. The amount of transistors are 242 million, less than RV 730’s 514 million. This is because HD 4550 have only 80 shaders, and HD 4650 have 320 shaders.
