E5200 hit shelves in China for 699 RMB(around $100)

The Pentium E2000 series are well accepted by users for its overclocking capacity and low price. As we know, some 1.8GHz E2140 can overclock to 3.2GHz or higher.

Now as product-line updated, Intel intends to replace the old E2000s with new products, and the first one is E5200. While the initial number is “5″, the E5200 still belongs to Pentium brand. Comparing with old E2000s, E5200 has many advantages.

First, the old E2000 is based on 65nm “Conroe” core, while E5200 is based on 45nm “Wolfdale” core which features lower heat and energy consumption, as well as higher clocked capacity. Besides, the E5200 comes with 2MB L2 cache, which will make it more powerful in some cache-rely programs.

In addition to the new process and 2MB L2 cache, the E5200 features 12.5X mutiplier and clocked at 2.5GHz. The clock is higher than any old E2000s. But the price is almost as same as the E2220 for 699 RMB(around $100, and the official price is $84/unit for 1000 units). Now it has hit shelves in Guangzhou, China.

Is there any date set for them to be on shelves in major online retailers in North America? I hope that it’s just a few more days for us. This is the chip I will buy to upgrade my E6300, jut waiting for it, getting ready to give my water-cooling a good clean and crank up the voltage haha. I can’t wait to tap in all the overclocking potential of this chip. 12.5x multiplier, sweet!

By the way, the E2000 series is based on the Allendale core, E6000 series are Conroe ;)

Strangely enough, it’s already on shelves here, in Russia. But, for example, newegg still missing one. In any case, this might be a great base for my new HTPC :)
