AMD 45nm CPU naming scheme changed
According to sources, AMD will begin to optimize their naming scheme for their 45nm CPU: they will keep Phenom X4/X3 brand, but numbers after it will have five digits.
Sources mentioned that the name of two 45nm CPU this year will be Phenom X4 20550 and Phenom X4 20350, with their AM2+ and DDR2 support, these two 45nm Deneb CPU are only available for a short period (last order at 09Q2), for AM2+ mobo users to update AMD’s latest CPU.
In 2009 Q1 and Q2, all Deneb CPU will shift to AM3, supports DDR3. also in 09Q1 Propus will show up, they will become Phenom X4 16×00. 45nm triple core CPU Heka and Rana will become Phenom X3 14×00 and Phenom X3 12×00.

Can’t they just Simplify things rather than complicate them…..???
It’s Getting confusing now… All the names… No performance gain.

I guess their point is to complicate things.
4 numbers was fine, but because 5 digits cant be referenced in 2 short blurbs like “Fourty-Four Thirty Seven” it’s a mouthful. To save my own time and sanity, I’ll just say Nehalem because no matter what the number is, it’s still going to pound AMD unless they pull ma magical rabbit out of their hat with their new architecture.

Its not true, 45nm Phenoms should have HT3.1 and I doubt all these models run on 4Ghz HT. Total cache is also very suspicious and that numbering is total BS.

This infomation come from the latest roadmap,so it could be ture

Wow please AMD. Why do you need to make things less consumer friendly? Call them 20k50? 5 digits are one too many.
Anyway, at 95W/125W TDP and lower performance than Intel, they remain unnactractive to me. Call me fanboy all you want, I’m simply looking for the best cpu at a given price.

@8
New intel cpu:s have 130W TDP so it is not that bad. Lets see what they can offer.
Imo phenom 9550 isn´t that bad since you can get cpu, motherboard and memmory at the prize of intels q9300 cpu. Dont get me wrong i have qx9650, just saying that it is not that bad deal for ie gaming pc where your nv/ati card does most of the work anyway.

yes i agree with DAAMIT’s point of view i think atleast the HT-bus part it total BS.
why? AMD already announced HT3.1 running at 3,2GHZ. so i expact it atleast to run at 5200MT’s if not faster. and the naming is crap too. i expact a better naming. one which is better like radeon 4850 was or phenom 9950.

They should be using the LOW digit to denote physical CPU scalability. Consumer? End in zero. Server 1 physical CPU? end in 1. 2 for 2, eight for 8. That low digit is pretty much filler now.
Then start tacking a letter on the front and when the numbers roll over, go to the next letter in the alphabet. Example: A8952, A9352, A9952, B1052.
And then STOP MESSING WITH IT!!

Its not the amd fusion, its the amd confusion. They must realy be DUMB for making such naming scheme.

Although i’m not fond of the naming scheme the processors look as though they very well could kep up with the Intels currently out. That being said the thing is Intels already have these speeds out. But i’m sure the prices will be alot cheaper but let’s hope AMD has something up there sleeve for the next round. Maybe by then they’ll release there octal core processor but i won’t hold my breathe. The fact is if you just want a processor that runs everything that’s out today the AMD’s will do perfect, yes i know there’s a 25 percent loss in speed between the AMD phenom 9950 and the Intel qx9775 but look at the price difference, only a moron that’s stupid with there cash would spend that kinda money and for what? Bragging rights?, who really gives a crap?, i don’t. The thing i CAN say about AMD at least they DO use truly independent processing the intels use shared cache. But go and buy the high priced Name of Intel and get your bragging rights because bragging really don’t go too far and normally don’t last too long. I think i’ll trail behind a bit and come close and keep a wad of money in my pocket rather than putting up for a mortgage for my house just so i can have temporary the fastest processor.
