What could one put to 6 PCIe x16 slots ??
    i mean, what USEFULL stuff……?? =)

  2. RonindeBeatrice Says:

How about 6 G92′s? Buying a system catered to folding might seem silly, but I’ve seen worse.

  3. Stas Says:

Which thrue x16 slots are hardware SLI?
If the first two then it’s OK!, but it seems they wired for hardware SLI slots 3 and 5 – than it is a rubbish.

  4. JM Says:

the 3 blue pci slots are true x16, electrically, all 6 pci slots are x16 physically, as can be seen in the photograph. The board supports SLI and Crossfire. Its a simple case of going to the Asus global website. http://asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=179&l3=815&l4=0&model=2697&modelmenu=1

… only 3x x16 in slots 1, 3 and 5 with none of the other slots used. however if you’re gonna use 3x dual slot GPU cards you wont be able to get anything else in anyway! I still dont see the need for even a dual card set up running one monitor for the sake of a few extra frames per second on ur fave shoot em up anyway. Multi monitor setups without Crossfire or Sli are far better for workspace purposes anyway, and then we only really need one decent card and one good card, the decent one runs ur Cinema Display for ur main work and the good one runs a dual setup for ur desktop. This board is aimed at the power desktop user anyway. I’d use a Slot for a dedicated Hardware RAID solution, sure the board has a good setup for RAID already, but for mission critical work and true backup redundancy those extra PCI slots are a fab idea!

This board is made for working… that’s why it’s named Workstation. I mean, 6 single slot cards that are being used by CUDA. For digital content editing, medical research… and not for folding or an extra frame in Far Cry 2. Think for a second…

  7. JL Says:

6x PCIe. Can always use PCIe NICs, soundcards, RAID card etc instead of using the older PCI-X on an old and bottleneck PCI slot.

I was just looking around on the net for a pure PCIe X58 MB.
My friend just got a Asus x58 deluxe mb, but he can’t place all his PCIe bits in.
Hes got 2xg285′s then a PCIe Wireless card (it *impossible* for him to use anything but wireless)
Then he wanted a Create labs sound card for games. When you play games that have important 3d sound you need good EAX support, their are no alternatives to creative labs for this, I was wasted a lot of money my self trying them all. Too bad alternative sound chip makers are deaf when it comes to good EAX 3d sound in games.

Point is you can’t have a truly good gamer setup on any x58 board yet, except for this new one!
