Gainward HD 4870 X2 Golden Sample

Right after Palit, Gainward has also released HD 4870 X2 Golden Sample. Because Gainward now is a part of Palit, so the card is the same with Revolution 700 Deluxe, having a jumbo three slot cooler. Within the cooler there are four heatpipes and two PWM fans. Other than two RV770XT GPUs, the card also utilized with 2GB GDDR5 memory.
The card runs at 750/950MHz(Core/memory), only slightly uplocked the GDDR5 memory a bit, leaving some overclock headroom for users. Now no words on price and release date yet.

I remember a time when there were graphic cards, now we have come to the age of graphic bricks. 3 slots. Damn.

so it takes up three slots, big deal. most aftermarket gpu heatsinks with fans do that anyway; what are you crying about? you want sli? get a different brand then!
November 6th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
did you mean a “radeon sli”? thats new to me!

you want a one slot cooling solution for the HD 4870X2? Well then you’ll have to wait for Sapphires Atomic edition. It take up three slots. So what It’s not like you can air cool a 4870X2 with a small cooler and expect to get good results.
It sure looks nice but I don’t understand why did they put a VGA output on such an extreme card IF you are concerned about putting two of these in CrossFire you don’t need to worry. If you put the first card in the first PCI-E slot and the second one in the third PCI-E slot it should work just fine an have some room between the cards

yeah, and lock all the other 4 slots unused!
i think it’s better to take 2x 2 slot 4870X2 and a Geforce for PhysX.
YEAH, IT’S POSSIBLE!

You want a lil card with those slots?? LOAL LMAO
November 8th, 2008 at 1:23 am
is it really extremely supernaturally important that VGA-out?
don’think so, man.

You guys are complaining about it being 3 slots?
I think a dual core card that can be OC to 900 far outweighs the cons.
P.S. If you need more than this card to run any game then please give me the prototype 22in 3840×2400 LCD that you stole from the labratory.
November 10th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
yeah! i used that prototype to run Crysis on Ultra High with max anisotropic and anti-aliasing filters.
this fantastic card made 240fps all alone?
DO YOU BELIEVE IT?

Well, with my Thermalright HR-03 cooler on my 8800gt plus fan, it takes a lot more space than I would have wanted but that is the price to pay for cooling and performance. Ah, it also is pretty heavy and it is putting some right angle stress on my card…
