AMD & NVIDIA Going to Select TSMC 40nm And Hynix GDDR5
After Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) announces to build 40nm process chip, Taiwan Economic News reports that AMD and NVIDIA’s first 40nm products will debut in Q1 next year. So let’s guess who can enjoy the ahead chance.
What’s funny is, as two biggest graphics tycoons in the world, AMD and NVIDIA both choose the fastest Hynix 7Gbps GDDR5 graphics DRAM for their new-line products. It’s very likely that we find Hynix’s new DRAM in AMD RV870 or NVIDIA GT216/206.
It’s rumored that the power consumption of NVIDIA GT212 i.e. 40nm GT200 is 25% less than previous 65nm chip.
As for GDDR5 graphics DRAM, ATI has taken the lead in using Qimonda GDDR5 Graphics DRAM for its Radeon HD 4800 Series.

Lil’ mem oc does has almost no influence on performance.
but since it’s 2x R700 and brand new to NVidia, let’s see the difference.
yeah yeah!
