Intel Sees Revenue Drop 23% in Fourth-Quarter 2008

Today Intel warns that its Q4 2008 revenue dropped 23%, more than it expected. Intel plans to report the complete results on 15th of this month.

The stock declined 6.1% after Intel said revenue fell from $10.7 billion to $8.2 billion a year earlier. In November, the company had forecast sales of about $9 billion, down from an earlier prediction of at least $10.1 billion.

Intel’s chips run about 80% of the world’s PCs, which indicates that the global recession has sharply killed demand for personal computers.
