AMD Mobility Radeon 4870 X2 Coming Soon

As AMD’s flagship product, Radeon HD 4870 X2 is going to be used on mobile devices soon. Asus will adopt Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2 on its gaming notebook W90, according to TechPowerUp.

A North American sales representative claims that W90 will be available from February 23, when Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2 will be officially launched. At the same time, Mobility HD 4670 might be out as well.

XtremeSystems forum member Kinc revealed some images of W90 and screenshots of 3DMark. Equipped with Asus X38 motherboard, Intel Core2 Quad T9400 processor and 6MB L2 cache, W90 was overclocked to 4GHz. With default core/memory clock of 600/900MHz on Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2, W90 shows a high score of 20,284 3DMarks.

When released, the Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2 is expected to replace NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTX SLI as the fastest mGPU solution. So we do have a lot to look forward to.

It sounds nice but what is the purpose of it?
I mean really this thing wil hav a battery ife less tha one hour and probably be as hot as hell. I can understand that it’s meant to be a desktop replacment but one could just buy a Shutlle PC if they ewant to save room and don’t want to sacrifice performance

are you actually hearing what you are talking about? if anyone who’s buying a (hint) ‘gaming’ laptop there is NOT going to be any worry on battery life. these things are made to be fed through the wall or car battery. you could have spent an extra second to figure that out. if you want battery sippers wait for the wonderful Ion chipset, b/c no one is going to argue with you about battery life on these things… i mean really… battery life on this.. really?? think through before making pointless comments dude.

Thanks for expressing your ideas listed here. The other factor is that whenever a problem appears with a laptop motherboard, folks should not have some risk of repairing the item themselves because if it is not done properly it can lead to irreparable damage to the entire laptop. In most cases, it is safe just to approach any dealer of your laptop for your repair of the motherboard. They will have technicians with an skills in dealing with laptop motherboard difficulties and can make the right analysis and perform repairs.
