ATI Catalyst 9.4 Released Without Support For DX9 Video Cards

Intel: Our Graphics Silicon Is Gaining in Gaming

 

According to Jon Peddie Research’s latest report, integrated graphics chip will phase out from the market in 2013, but Intel thinks differently. They believe a brand-new future will come with the advent of their first CPU+GPU chip Clarkdale which is slated to come in Q4.

A senior marketing manager in the Intel Visual Computing Software Development group, Aaron Davies said, “Mercury Research showed that in 2008, for the first time, integrated graphics chipsets outsold discrete (graphics chips), and in 2013, we expect to see integrated graphics chipsets outsell discrete by three to one.”

Update: RV790 Packs 3 Million More Transistors Than RV770

 

There were rumors that RV790 is a re-taped product, which is really true. RV790 is something more than RV770 overclocking edition, as it has been updated to support higher clock speeds: it’s added Decap Ring around the perimeter of the chip in order to reduce signal noise effectively, which causes minor increase in die area: from 260mm2 to 282mm2. Besides, RV790 chip is re-timed and the ASIC power distribution is also altered.
