Gigabyte Offers DualBIOS Technology on All Its Motherboards

Gigabyte developed the DualBIOS solution in 1999 to enhance the stability of motherboard. The DualBIOS features two physical BIOS ROMS mounted onto the motherboard. One chip acts as your “Main” BIOS that your system primarily uses during boot up. The second chip acts as a “Backup” BIOS to automatically take over your next system boot if the “Main” BIOS happens to fail or stops functioning.
Gibabyte originally only offered the technology on its high-end motherboards, but has recently begun to include it on all its motherboard products, according to Digitimes.
Gigabyte expects its motherboard shipment to achieve 20 million units for 2009, and plans to expand its network communication and server orders to drive up profits. The company also expects the handset and notebook businesses to turn profitable after adjusting its product lines and organization in the second half of the year.
