Overclocking Test of Pentium E6500K: Intel’s New Secret Weapon
Overclocking ability
E6500K targets mid-range and low-end segment, so we use the corresponding hardware for test: Biostar P45E Combo motherboard, Samsung DDR2-800 memory, and GlacialTech GT5610+ CPU cooler.

You can set the multiplier as you like.
We set the CPU voltage at 1.76V, and managed to overclock it to 4539MHz. With the aid of Setfsb utility, the clock achieved 4607MHz (17*270MHz). You may check the result from the CPU-Z validation database.

When the VTT voltage was set at 1.44V, we effortlessly overclock the bus speed to 455MHz.

When the bus speed was set at 100MHz, the maximum multiplier was 30.

The default voltage of E6500K is 1.264V. When it’s improved to 1.5V, the CPU can operate steadily at 4005MHz (15*266MHz).

Final thoughts
Intel chooses to pilot the Pentium E6500K in China first, but you can expect more “unlocked” processors from Intel in the near future.
E6500K does make the overclocking much easier – you just need to change the multiplier. We think E6500K can be priced more competitively, and it would be appealing enough if it’s priced at around $89. Anyway, the outstanding OC ability has given it a big advantage over the rival just like AMD Phenom X3 8650/8750.

That OC was done with a budget board too, not bad at all. Put this in my Gigabyte P35-DQ6 board and I bet it can go over FSB500. So anyone in China wanna mail me one of these?

I don’t get it, why should anyone buy a core 2 extreme when this thing is unlocked just as well?

@no:
Intel doesn’t make C2D-XE anymore. Only C2Q and Ci7.

but then why does this one cost a hundred bucks instead of a thousand
August 10th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
Because they want to get AMD out of the market for good. If that happens, we’ll gonna have to pay an arm and a leg for a decent processor.

Well usually they try to keep the competition just barely in business so they don’t have problems with antitrust..

Hey guys I’m looking for one of these to test out. Regardless of something being better or not. If you are able to get one mail me cing7@hotmail.com with e6500k as subject and we will talk paypal and shipping cost with a bonus. It will have to be setup usa ebay with a quick transaction so legally you give me the correct processor with pictures and you get your price for cpu + bonus to be discussed and shipping cost.
