AMD Introduces Eight New Athlon IIs

AMD has just expanded its Athlon II family with eight new low-power processors, which includes dual-, triple- and quad-core babies to meet a range of computing needs, with prices ranging between $69 and $143.

Built with 45nm SOI technology, all the models are based on Socket AM3, and are compatible with AM2(+) sockets, supporting both DDR2 and DDR3 memory standards.

According to AMD, the AMD Athlon II X2 240e processor performs up to 70% better in media and entertainment benchmarks and delivers a processor cost saving of over $40 when compared to the Intel Core 2 Duo E7400, and enables a range of unique All-in-One and small form factor chassis. The Athlon II X3 435 delivers processor cost savings of over $100 while providing up to 75% better media and entertainment performance when compared to the Intel Core 2 Duo E8500.

Several leading OEMs such as Acer, Dell, HP and Lenovo are going to introduce PCs with the low-power and high-performance processors.

Could you please added the columns for the normal Athlon price? Thx.

  2. Polak Says:

AMD ended sale Phenom II X3 7×0, Phenom II X2 5xx

  3. Board Says:

I really don’t understand why AMD keeps naming “Athlon” their brand new CPUs. I don’t think that will help AMD selling them.

Nobody wants your chips AMD go away…

  5. Toast Says:

Nobody wants your opinion Bruce go way…

  6. Bruce Says:

AMD CPUs are the choice of losermorons um like Toast, if the shoe fits…

  7. Bruce Says:

Of course Toast probably wears a 6 and a half that his wife picks up at yardsales so he can save for the next TriAnithilon 6.

  8. Aramid Says:

I don’t know Bruce, those CPU are pretty good for a low budget build or CPU upgrade. They are especially attractive for a home media application and low power applications.

Also like for me, I wouldn’t spend so much on computer components. Guitars and automotive and traveling are my passion, so for me, those CPU are also perfect for me had I did not upgrade to an X4-620 a few weeks ago.

  9. Bruce Says:

Every time AMD unveils a new CPU there is already something faster at every price point the chips flop and AMD cannot figure out why. They scratch their heads and then do it all over again. AMD needs to start swimming or get the hell out of the water.

  10. Bruce Says:

Could you wrap up that 69 dollar CPU for me, yes and put a bow on top.

  11. Aramid Says:

That 69 dollar CPU will fit nicely on your Intel motherboard. Don’t forget to RAID 0 your floppy drives for the fastest performance.

  12. Bruce Says:

The acronym speaks volumes: AMD Another Mindless/marketing Disaster.

I’m rather interested in the new stepping. Some say it can reach 4,2GHz with ease. Others say C3 CPUs overclock better with lower vcore and consume less power. How about Phenom II X4 975 BE review?
