Asus Rampage II Gene (I)
Being the first mATX board from the company’s famous Republic of Gamers series, Asus Rampage II Gene looks really gorgeous.
Based on Intel X58+ICH10R chipset, Asus Rampage II Gene adopts black PCB design, and features Fujitsu solid state capacitors, plus six memory slots to accommodate for up to 24GB of DDR3, a pair of PCI-E x16 slots, and one PCI-E x4 & PCI slot.
Asus Rampage II Gene comes with an 8-phase power design, 2-phase QPI/DRAM power, 2-phase IOH power and 2-phase memory power circuity.
Asus Rampage II Gene supports Asus EPU technology which provides total system power savings by detecting currect PC loadings and intelligently moderating power in real-time. You’ll need the EPU-6 software to get it work properly. Actually, it helps to save power by reducing the CPU voltage and frequencies, which would impact the performance.
The featured iROG is a special IC which provides onboard LED display, component overheat protection, and more accurate voltage tweak.
The LCD Poster automatically detects device failure and posts the errors on the LCD display. For example, the LCD shows “check CPU” when we set the CPU external frequency too high.
The black aluminum heatsink spreads heat through northbridge and power Mosfet. Just be careful when you overclock, as the component overheat protection function may result in power failure.
Asus Rampage II Gene adopts One DIMM Latch design to avoid the problem that the memory “fight” with PCB of graphics cards.
