Radeon HD 5970 to Take back Graphics Performance Crown

AMD has just unleashed the new dual-GPU flagship card Radeon HD 5970, which claims to be “the fastest graphics card on the planet”.

Radeon HD 5970 packs 3200 stream processors, 2GB of RAM, a 512-bit memory interface, and 160 Texture Units, delivering single precision processing power of 4.64 TeraFLOPs.

With GPU/memory clock of 725/1000MHz, the card is expected to deliver a bit lower performance than Radeon HD 5870 CrossFireX setup, but it will undoubtedly become the performance king at least until NVIDIA launches its Fermi-based products next year.
