Intel Core 2 Duo E8700 Leaked Accidently

Core 2 Duo E8700 has been listed at Intel’s product page for a while, as the top processor in the Wolfdale based Core 2 Duo family, but the availability and pricing remain mysterious.

Recently, a XtremeSystems forum member claims he has already received a Core 2 Duo E8700 from Intel’s chip factory in Malaysia, though what he had ordered was a QX9650.

The specs have been confirmed as well: 3.5GHz, 6MB of L2 cache, FSB1333, and a TDP of 65W. Considering the retail version has been ready, I guess it won’t be long before it becomes available actually.

Seems nice but we have to wait for the price tag. Hope it’s not too hefty.

More than likely it will replace the price of E8600 now and push everything else down a notch. I suppose a hefty price is relative, but if one truly wants it, then price shouldn’t be an issue. What better way to extend the life of an LGA775 system, especially if one can OC to 5GHz on liquid and skip an upgrade to Nehalem/Westmere altogether? ;)

The TDP is actually 65W and not 60W.

I wonder how it pars with the upcoming i3 processors.
