Seagate Finds its Way into SSD Market with Pulsar

Seagate has just introduced its first solid state drive – Pulsar, which is designed for enterprise blade and general server applications.

Built in a 2.5-inch form factor with a SATA 3Gb/s interface, the Pulsar drive uses SLC technology for maximum reliability and endurance, and is coming available in capacities of 50GB, 100GB and 200GB, delivering read/write speed of 240MB/200MB per second. The drive also features power loss data protection to ensure against data loss upon power failure.

Backed by a 5-year warranty, Seagate Pulsar units have started to be shipped to select OEMs from September 2009.
