Hynix Develops World’s First 2Gb GDDR5 DRAM

Hynix has just announced the industry’s first 2Gb GDDR5 using the 40nm manufacturing process. Claiming to be the fastest and highest density graphics memory available in the market, it operates at 7Gbps bandwidth and processes up to 28GB/s with a 32-bit I/O.
In addition to fast speed and high density, the low power consumption is another highlight. With a operation voltage of 1.35V, it reduces energy consumption by 20% over the preceding memory solutions using 50nm technology.
The 2Gb GDDR5 is expected to enter mass production in the second half of next year to meeting increasing demand for high performance graphics RAM.

if i understand video memory correct, a 64bit I/O spec module is 56GB/s *4 (average of 256bit videocard) = 224GB/s, AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!! HD 6xxx series gonna have so much HORSEPOWER!!!
