Chartered Begins Next Phase of Equipment Move-In at Fab 7

 

Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd. has recently announced it has begun the next phase of expansion, equipment move-in, and installation for its most advanced manufacturing facility, Fab 7 – a 300mm wafer fab. The equipment will support the planned ramp of capacity for the company’s leading-edge process offerings of 65nm and 45/40nm technology.

Intel Plans Price Cut for Several Processors in January

 

According to what we see from Intel’s latest roadmap, the official launch of Clarkdale will lead to price drop of some Intel low-end and mid-segment processors.

There will be five Clarkdale processors coming early in January, including Core i5-670/661/660/650 and Pentium G6950. They’re going to cost $284/$196/$196/$176/$87, respectively. A few days later, the pricing of Pentium E6500 will drop from $84 to $74, E5400 dropping from $74 to $64, and E3300 from $53 to $43.
