Test Results
When compared with HD 5870 stock cooler, VRM-R3/R4 managed to keep the PCB 13-14℃ cooler under load.
The GPU temperature was 7-8℃ cooler when using VRM-R3/R4 than stock cooler.
The superb cooling efficiency of VRM-R3/R4 for the VRM part has made itself to be the best solution available on the market, but its applicability is quite limited. According to our test, T-Rad2 GTX is one of the best coolers which work well with VRM-R3/R4, but it’s a pity that Thermalright Spitfire doesn’t work with it.
Both priced at US$28.95, VRM-R3 is ideal for those have the side panel fan, while R4 is the preferred choice for the vertical cases. Please note they’re only compatible with HD 5870/5850 with stock PCB design/reference design.
