AMD Plans Two Six-Core Processors in Q2 2010

According to Fudzilla, AMD is planning to launch two six-core desktop processors in Q2 next year, and they’re expected to appear slightly later than Intel’s Core i7-980X.

The 45nm based processors codenamed Thuban are coming with 6MB of L3 cache, C-state performance boost and support DDR3 1333MHz. It supports AM3 motherboards so it should work in most existing models.

Some rumors indicate the first Thuban will debut with a clock speed of 2.8GHz, but we don’t get any confirmation about this yet.
