Intel’s Next-generation IGP Target Gamers

Intel’s 32nm Clarkdale processors are slated for launch in the first week of 2010 in the form of Core i5, Core i3 and Pentium series.

According to the slides that Donanimhaber website got its hands on, the supposedly targeted gaming segments of Intel’s HD graphics will be capable of running most mainstream games including World of Warcraft, FiFA 2010, The Sims 3 and NBA 2k10.

The only games that the slide indicates will not be handled by the upcoming processor are the “enthusiast” titles. These consumers will still have to make a choice between AMD and NVIDIA products.

    yawns.

Sure, people will want to play games on Intel integrated graphics. Intel integrated graphics are the reason PC gaming isn’t bigger than it is today. This junky little IGP is neutered could never deliver performance to game.

WHERE THE FUK did Intel get this chart from? Looks like such BS! Based on most of these titles, I highly doubt the users are even using the Intel IGP to play those games.

this diagram is frankly depressing and not to mention wrong

They’re not. This is the target audience Intel hopes to reach with Clarkdale.

Of course, if it can’t play RE at all, then WoW performance will probably be mediocre at best. It’s just fanatasizing on Intel’s part. The recent Larrabee fail and the inability of the Atom platform (outside of NVidia’s Ion) to run HD, pretty much proves that Intel don’t “get” graphics at all – i.e., they really don’t understand what people’s wants & needs are.
