Intel’s Upcoming 32nm Clarkdale Shows Impressive OC Potential
Thanks to the overclocker NickShih at Xtremesystems forum, Intel’s 32nm Clarkdale processors have presented their impressive overclocking capabilities before the official launch next week.

NickShih managed to overclock the Core i5-670 to 6921.8MHz using liquid nitrogen, and saw no cold bugs even under the ultra-low temperature of -185C.
Overclocking system:
Processor: Clarkdale 3.47G
Motherboard: EVGA P55 3X Classified (E659)
VGA card: Radeon HD 5870
RAM: A-DATA 2200 CL8 & G.Skill 2000 CL7
PSU: Antec TruePower Quattro 1200 OC
Hard Drive: Western Digital 500G
Kingpin Dragon F1 eXtreme Edition LN spot
Additionally, NichShih broke the world record in SuperPi by completing the SuperPi 1M benchmarks in 6.344 seconds at 6.76GHz.

NickShih also overclocked Core i5-660 for fun, and created another BCLK world record.

That just reminds me of how much I need a CPU upgrade.

damn

I call this overclocking on bullshit.
If it’s not on air, it’s useless to the consumer.
How much can i overclock this chip on air cooling?

Fa’ Shizzle

I agree, this is useless information unless we see what practical overclocking capabilities this CPU has.

@N
How much air you got?

They probably used liquid nitrogen to get it that high

just wondering, that o/s looks like windows vista/7 too me, but it’s running directx 9.0c? I’m pretty sure those two os are directx 10 by default and I have no idea why someone would hack it back down to 9.0c (since i don’t think there’s a downgrade). So could these be bullshit all together?

Dude that was incredible. Way
January 2nd, 2010 at 2:58 am
ok i see, the first pic says 2003 that’s why it’s directx 9.0c but it’s coupled with a cpu-z screen taken from vista/7 which makes no sense. The bottom pic makes more sense since specs and o/s match.

unrealistic, unpractical.
side notes: icons on first point to it being a vista/w7 skinned version of XP
vista is dx10, w7 is dx11

Why whine about this? Oh, so you can’t do it so it’s bull? I say if it’s possible,(at least us with the skills and resources to build these systems) I say it’s practical. The reason we have multi-core chips in the first place is because Intel new that breaking the 4 gig mark required more power and produced too much heat for the average environment. You’ll never have a chip over 4 gigs. This test is a proof of concept, but if someone can produce a cooling system that’s practical you short sighted mouth breathers might have a chance at a sweet system. You’ll just have to pay someone to build it for you.

Ok you idiots, the system is windows xp or 2003, the reason it has the part that looks like vista or 7 up there is because thats what the website looks like. click on the link directly above it and you will see…
