Galaxy Cooking up World’s First Dual-Core GTS250 Accelerator

We’ve just heard some whispers that Galaxy is cooking up something interesting – the world’s first and only dual-core GTS250 graphics card.

As you can see, the two GPUs are placed on a single PCB, and the Low Power edition G92-426 GPUs are expected to bring down the power draw. The graphics board also features one BR04 bridge chip and 16 pieces of 0.8ns DRAM chips. Each GPU is served by 1GB of memory and a 256-bit of memory interface.

The card features 6-phase power supply design and employs Bussmann choke which boasts up to 2MHz frequency. The combination of low power GPU and luxurious power supply circuit sounds to be quite promising for overclocking enthusiasts.

It remains to be seen when this card would become commercially available, but we’ll keep you informed whenever we hear more.

Rofl. Basically it’s a 9800GX2 on one PCB instead of two seperate. The 9800GX2 also consisted of 2 G92 gpu’s. So basically it’s two 8800GT’s relabelled and then put on one pcb… Nevertheless, I see that Galaxy and others like Zotac are feeling the heath of the red corner, now that GF100-cards aren’t available yet.

    DX 11 please….

yeah, it is a 9800gx2 single pcb, but that isn’t a bad thing. there aren’t any games out that take FULL advantage of dx11 and i don’t think there will be any until 2011, so to me this makes sense. it would also appear that they’ve fixed the two things that were wrong with the original gx2: 1) only 512mb per gpu 2) high power consumption.

looks like a nice card, you ge a total of 2GB memory and 256 processing units for probably way less than the price of a gtx280 $355 on newegg (and the gtx280 has 240 not 256 units, and 1gb ram). right now on newegg you can find a single gts250 for $140 with 1gb memory, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this card is at least $200. even at $200 though, this would still be a good deal, $80 less than an sli setup of two gts250′s. not to mention less power consumption, less heat, and only taking up 1 pci-e instead of 2. although it’ll be basically a revamped 9800gx2, its still a good card

It’s also a great solution for those who may have bought a dell, hp, etc and are stuck with 1 pci-e slot and want to have a significant boost in gfx without spending too much. i’ve seen plenty of said systems with all the hardware needed for gaming except a decent gpu, this is a great option for those with these systems wanting sli (of course they’d probably need a better power supply)

i see what looks like a spdif connector for hdmi in the left corner and what could these pns on the right be? would be sweet if it was their version of an sli bridge for quad sli. you never know, perhaps they did this to better fit the gpus in place?
