ASUS’s Custom HD5970 Graphics named “ARES”

Last year, ASUS release the Custom GeForce GTX295 what named “MARS”, basic on two GTX285 GPUs. According to overclockers.at, ASUS will be introduced a similar product named “ARES”.
As we known, Radeon HD 5970 is based on two Cypress, but it working at lower clock just 725/1000MHz. Asus “ARES” will features the standard 850/1200MHz, Β stronger VRM circuitry and more powerful cooler of course.
The details of ASUS “ARES” is not yet clear, but we guess it will not be arrive till Q2.

MARS was fail. Stock 5970s can be pushed to 5870 speeds if the PSU can handle it. So I fail to see what is going to set this card apart from others.

I think the difference will be in how much will the card overclock.
The better power circuitry could play a big role in that, especially under liquid and sub-ambient/sub-zero cooling

How about pair of Eye-finity models with 4-6 display port outputs and 4GB of DDR5? Hopefully it will be a lot cheaper and have more quantity than Mars. Considering how much a HD5970 goes for eBay, $800-900 might not be too hard to swallow for a gaming enthusiast
