EliteBastards.com also says Intel will be producing Gulftowns in a Quad-Core version using the same single silicon die with 2 cores disabled, very cool idea lower cost lower power consumption less heat for those who can get by just fine running 4 very fast cores. So there then will be many choices for the 1366 platform Yee-Haw!

The OCWorkbench site that you mention as your source says in the news that you linked that the i7-970 is a gulftown chip, why are you noting it as a bloomfield chip with 4 cores in your own news?

Fudzilla.com says the 970 is going to be a Gulftown 6-core running at 3.20Ghz, with 32nm transistors... I hope they are right then it will not have the $999 pricetag of the 980X!!! Good News!

I think the gulftown will run cooler, at least when you use less than 4 cores

OK Intel ya got me again! I waited 15 months for the price of the 80Gb SSDs to come down to $244.10(AmazonPrime) AND for the Trim feature to really work December, 2009. Are the drives Fantastic YES! Two in Raid under warm blue LEDs in the rooftop mount of the Cooler Master Stacker 830 all black, a thing of beauty. Now ya got me taking the plunge 6 core 980X, X68 chipset! I'll do it! This hobby is getting costly!

Yeah! My 970 is Finally being released! Wait Q3? Making us wait so long for old tech? 45nm? They will probably retire Bloomfield in 2011. I want the new cooler running 32nm but on the 1366 platform. Intel has a board of psychologists letting them plan their release dates knowing that for just $450 more I can get into the 6 core Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Hard to drop $562 on old tech. Wonder which runs cooler 4 cores @45nm or 6 cores @32nm?
