NPD has just released the 2009 video game sales rank, and it comes as no surprise that the Modern Warfare 2 grabbed the sales champion, especially considering the fact that the title already sold $1 billion worldwide last month.

It should be noted that the figures only refer to the world’s three largest game markets – United States, United Kingdom and Japan. In general, the sales experienced a decline of 8 percent compared to 2008.
