NVIDIA to Re-introduce Hybrid SLI Under Optimus Brand Name

NVIDIA talked up the Optimus technology last month, and Xbitlabs has learnt that the graphics technology for mobile platform will be revealed on February 9th. However, Optimus is not a particularly new technoloy, but just an improved version of Hybrid SLI and Hybrid Graphics.
NVIDIA Optimus technology allows the system to automatically switch between discrete and integrated graphics cores so as to take advantage of high-performance discrete GPU and keep battery life at maximum level by utilizing IGP.
At present NVIDIA ships GeForce 9400M IGP for Intel processors, but since Intel’s new mobile platform grows mature, NVIDIA’s chip sales is seriously threatened, so the company chooses to make some enhancements based on their old technology and re-introduce it under a new brand name.

*facepalm*
No, no NVIDIA, you’re doing it wrong. Rebranding is NOT innovation.

@Jon: I’d say it’s allowed in this case, IF (notice: big if) the improvements are good enough.
