@Expertview: I don’t know about you, but I know a lot of people whom are happy as long their computer works. They wouldn’t have any problems paying for a new computer, but they don’t. They don’t need the latest hardware, they simply need a computer to pay bills and maybe some casual gaming.

So I don’t think “most consumers” want a faster system.

Wrong. Most consumers want faster system, they just can’t afford it. What is this “Need” anyway, humans can live without computers, does that mean we don’t need computers? Maybe Intel should just quit, because we don’t need computers to survive.

Talk about sour grapes! Well, most consumers don’t need high-performance CPUs either! In fact, most of those very same people who don’t need a high-end GPU, don’t need a high-end CPU either. Why didn’t they state that as well, huh?! Oh, that’s right, because they sell CPUs. The only thing consumers don’t need is that which you can’t provide, right?

It is true that most people may not need high-performance graphics, but pretty much anyone needs something better than Intel Graphics.

Why do higher-end folks get so offended by the idea that they are outnumbered by people who don’t need what [they think] they need? It comes off as such an insecurity as if they want to be the only focus of any company’s marketing. It is already bad enough many are too proud of what they buy to the point where those who can’t afford it are somehow jealous of stuff they don’t need.

Furthemore, why if someone doesn’t want to pay more for something, they are confronted with the attitude of getting the cheapest? What about what’s in the middle, what about respecting someone else’s preferences? Granted, why should anyone pay attention to the interests of others? Fair enough, so why waste time developing and ignorant opinion of whatever is beyond one’s interests?

In this article, Intel isn’t talking to/about enthusiasts or high-end home PC users, or even professionals. They are talking about home PC end-users, those that buy pre-builts by big name OEMs and retail chains. Essentially, no one reading this article on this and other similar sites are representative of “most consumers”.

i agree as well, only the high-end gamers who use ridiculously large displays have the need for high-end graphics. dx 11 is still insignificant, as is dx10 if you’re talking about games.

as for intel’s igp, no-one said the only choice was that or something high-end (or integrated for that matter).

Right Intel, we do not need high performance graphics because we of course never complain about the oh so great and fabulous IGPs Intel produces.

I don’t know what that guy smoked this morning, but I’m sure it’s not on the regular list of dealers. Of course we need highperformance graphics, how else would te world exist without CAD/CAM/CATIA accelerated graphicscards, without HD video, without…oh never mind.

He’s saying that becasue his company failed to produce High End Graphic Card !!

Everybody knows that Intel failed to make larabee and that’s why he said that most customers don’t need High End Graphics !!

If Larabee is here the story will be totally different !!

“When the chip giant have their own high-performance discrete graphics, they will definitely think differently.” They already think in other way, just don’t show.
