Official: Next-Generation 3DMark is DirectX 11 Only

The CVG site has recently had an interview with FutureMark’s CEO Jukka Makinen. Besides talking about the Shatterd Horizon and the future development of the company, some information about the next-generation 3DMark also emerged.

According to Jukka, the new benchmark will be DirectX 11-only, and totally different from the previous versions. The “3DMark 2010″ is coming with some breathtaking tests which may remind us of the scenes in James Cameron movies and Armageddon.

We have no clue yet when the benchmark will emerge, but it should become available by the end of this year – stay tuned for further details.

Unfortunately I think there will be a while untill we will se the first DX11 benchmark from Futuremark. I would be very happy to see a new 3DMark launched before 2010 is over.
