Larrabee Project to Come Back With Vengeance in Its Own Time

As we reported late 2009, Intel’s Larrabee project had been infinitely delayed, but it seems that the chip giant has never stop making efforts to enter into discrete graphics market.

Someone close to the project has recently told TechEye site that “there is a whole product plan and roadmap still in place”.

According to the hardware designer, the project will probably come back with a vengeance when you least expect it, and, if Larrabee had emerged on time, it would have changed the whole industry.

Even though the delay has given both ATI and NVIDIA time to catch up, the Larrabee engineer seems to be optimistic – he claims that Intel may release Larrabee when it wants to, not when the market might need it.

“Intel has the luxury of being able to release stuff in its own time, there are not too many other companies that can do that.”

Intel released the first 6-core CPU yesterday, the 980X. Amazon is selling it for $1185.00. Yikes!!! Give us some info on that Sue!

    Alright…

So they will release it when they want to, not when the market might need it. Have they ever heard of supply and demand? If a company were to release a product at a time when the buying public was not in the market for it, they would become very familiar with the term “Chapter 11″.
They need to gain capital on the cpu sales, to be able to woo individuals away from Nvidia or ATI to come work for them to straighten out their mess of a Research and design department in graphics, and make a product that can actually compete and make money in the marketplace. Otherwise Larrabee will just be a “hobby” for intel and last time I checked, most hobbies do not earn any money….they just spend it.
