ITS A SPACESHIP

Well, the good news is that the GTX480 is no longer than the 5870 or 5970…
The bad news? I was correct about making your case feeling like a mini-volcano inside.

GTX 480 will have 480 SP:s and have a TDP of 250W. The posted specs are for a later version, perhaps a GTX 485.

Yes and I’m ready to bet that they will pull off a dual chip design as well, probably with two gtx470 at much lower clocks

@no
I think that sounds extremely plausible. A lot of people seem to think it will be impossible, but why would it be?

400 watt TDP? Maybe some sort of three-slot-wide monstrosity of a cooler, but I’d expect there’s a secondary aim: stay in two slots.
At 3 slots or more, you run the risk of blocking the extra slots for SLI

Metal shroud/heatsink? So heat is radiated out and back into the case, at the same time, the fan will suck back in the hot air that is dissipated by the metal shroud/heatsink…
That design will also cause a lot of heat when used in an SLI configuration. And since the back PCB is exposed, there is a chance that the back of the card will touch the metal heatsink from the next card, causing a short. I mean, just take a look here:

How sweet of you my darling cupcake ♥♥♥♥. You showed me a photo of an old hardware that is too hot, too late, and too power hungry for its generation. Now why is Nvidia too hot, too late, and too power hungry in this generation? Were they dumb not to learn from their main competitor’s past? The Fermi will be a good card, for me to put in the trash.

I0Mega, I saw another photo and I think that the shroud is probably just a sticker

I originally thought it was for decoration, but it is real metal. Seen here:
