AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Processor Hits Retail in China
The price war between AMD and Intel has never stopped, and we’ve today found out the cheapest six-core processor on the market – AMD Phenom II X6 1055T, which is competitively priced at RMB1999 (US293).

The processor employs brand-new blue and purple package design, with a big logo of AMD Phenom II in the right center.

As you can see, the AMD Phenom II X6 1055T features six cores, 9.0MB total cache and Socket AM3 (938), being clocked at 2.8GHz.

From the side of box we can tell the chip was made in Malaysia.

Wasn’t it the expected price for the 1090T?
April 11th, 2010 at 9:25 am
Probably marked up the prices.

wow if price is true
it will not be hit in my country!!!

I was delaying some of my builds for the 1090T to come out @ $299.00 (US) but if this is going to be the pricing for the 1050T, I’ll just build Intel I7 930s and forget about AMD. Heck I can OC a X3 720 and get the same performance for 1/3 the price (no software needs X6 yet). So much for loyalty, I’ve been using AMD in all of my custom builds for customers and myself. It might be time to give up on AMD, unless they keep their top X6 under $299.00 (US), it’s Intel time!

“no software needs X6 yet”
(1) Bibble 5

(2) Virtualization (VirtualBox, VMware, etc)
(3) Engineering applications (FEA and CFD simulations)

Fido: But why? You can build an AM3 rig now and upgrade to the Phenom II X6 later.
Should said AM3 motherboard be ready for the Phenom II X6 lineup (like say, GIGABYTES’s GA-790FXTA-UD5), all that’s required is a BIOS update.

Because the price/performance ratio at $299.00 (US) for a 2.8 proc is an easy decision. i7 930 beats any phenom ii clocked at 2.8, even if turbo ups the clock. Phenom II procs cannot compete clock for clock with i7 procs.
Also, I’m currently running an AM2+ rig. When I build my next rig I’m going ground up which would include motherboard. I wouldn’t dream of building an AM3 rig until the 890FX mobos come out and if the price point is comparable to an i7/X58 system the choice is easy. Build the i7 930 with a moderate OC and blow the doors off the X6 lineup. AMD is loosing their competitive edge with this pricing scheme.
Intel has the better product but, you have to pay for it.
Once AMD raises their price even near the same neighborhood they loose their appeal. AMD needs to duke it out and earn some street credit before they can charge admission to the fight. If they were smart they would sell the X6 well below any i7 to get people building X6/890FX systems and then jack up the price on the Bulldozer when it comes out in ’11 and ride the upgrade wave. Otherwise people will be building Intel systems and not have an easy upgrade path when Bulldozer hits the market.

AMD needs to revisit their marketing plan. If the 890FX chip-set motherboards were out in early March, they would have been reviewed by now and have become the next big thing. I would own one with a P2 965 and be patiently awaiting the X6 for an upgrade. i7 wouldn’t even be an option because I would have already committed my money to the AM3 socket.
This isn’t rocket science, it’s just common sense. You need to lead customers down the prim rose path and control what they buy. Intel is a marketing monster and will destroy AMD in a fair fight. Time to work smarter AMD, you might have bloodied Intel’s nose with the settlement but you can be sure they are gonna come back swinging, don’t get caught with your guard down!

What the hell are you talking. I would take the 960T X4, if you are lucky you might be able to unlock it to X6.

haha, imagine if they start making only six cores and lasering them to make duals and quads
also to the guy who said we don’t need six cores

Six Cores will make any game run smoother and faster! But for using microsoft office and other simple apps you will get more speed opening and using Word for instance with a dual core at a higher speed, like the new intel 3.46GHz dual cores. But then when you load up a game well you know. So it just depends what you do with your pc. Ted you are right Intel is going to begin producing Gulftown 6-core chips and disabling two of the cores selling them as quads. Hopfully with cooler running 32nm transistors and only 4 cores the bus speeds can go to 3.46Ghz and 3.6Ghz or higher. Then office apps and games will benefit! Hurray!

Don’t know if this is good news or bad news, but Intel will be replacing the 1366 socket in 2011 to support the new Sandy Bridge CPUs. And I was so excited about the new Rampage 3 Extreme! Also the new socket will get the new chipset X68 with full USB 3.0 and SATA 6 support. I really don’t want to wait 18months for a new mobo, guess I will upgrade twice.
April 14th, 2010 at 3:01 am
Also heard the new socket will only have 4 memory slots yet each card is a separate channel. I guess that means quad channel memory and that’s ok as long as memory density increases per card. Corsair already has 4Gb cards so 16Gb total, that’s cool. Still I am not waiting, can always turn a primary rig into a cool home theater set up with gaming and use the Sandy Bridge for my new primary workspace machine, that works…

The six cores are now just arriving with some people complaining of overkill. Well the Sandy Bridge CPUs will include some with 8 cores and 16 threads. 18 months is not that far away!
April 14th, 2010 at 8:59 pm
I think producers will start making quad channel 4x2gb kits so in the end, the typical x68 platform will have more memory than the average x58; of course the total capacity will be less

Intel needs competition to come out with winning products. it’s good that the X6 is here. And @EliteBastard, 18 months is very far away in terms of CPU technology! That’s enough to reclaim a lost title, and 2 generations of GPU’s.
April 15th, 2010 at 10:44 pm
If it wasn’t for AMD, we would all be paying a sh’tload more for the Intel CPUs!
April 15th, 2010 at 11:33 pm
@bhoot now I am hearing the Sandy Bridge chips, new X68 chipset and new socket will be released Q1 2011 and that’s only 9 months away! What to do? What to do? The sexiest mainboard ever made came out today ASUS Rampage 3 Extreme for $399. That’s so tempting but alot of money to have to replace In 9 months! I can’t believe the new CPUs are not going to be 1366. I can’t decide! The R3E is the coolest MOBO I have ever seen, OC Heaven!!!
April 15th, 2010 at 11:44 pm
in nine months it won’t lose a lot of value i think, so you could sell it
April 24th, 2010 at 9:30 am
its already out in indonesia for around 180us ^^
