AMD Execs Talk up Fusion APU

AMD has recently claimed that its “Fusion” will arrive in 2011 as a revolution for the tablet market.
Fusion will integrate the ATI graphics core and AMD processor onto a single die which will be known as APU or accelerated processing unit.
Since the Apple’s iPad has shown the great potential of tablet computers, AMD’s vice president of marketing, Leslie Sobon, told Techradar that they were already think about this type of device.
“That’s all going to come to life in a very compelling way with the Fusion product,” said Sobel.
“Think about the advantages you get from a power performance and a form-factor perspective when you can take GPU and CPU and put them on the same die. ”
“You get enormous power efficiencies which is going to enable, not only things like tablet and slate, but these great experiences when you use it.”

A revolution, okay, but if it becomes magical I’m leaving.

Not yet. Revolution would be if they could optimize GPU architecture to do both CPUs and GPUs work. I bet some RV870 based CPU/APU would be easily faster than any CPU today. Lack of innovation, AMD is just too stupid, mostly copying Intel, worked well in the past but not any more. This turbo is bs, as you can see it doesn’t give a shit. 4.2GHz 1090T = 3.33GHz 980X I’d say that’s an epic fail. If CPU keeps getting weaker and weaker compared to other components then maybe Nvidia is right, CPU is just a minor chip that should be integrated into NB and let GPU do the hard work.

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was wondering what all is required to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very web savvy so I’m not 100% certain. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
