Samsung has just announced a new addition to its Spinpoint family – the 2.5″ MT2 series HDD.

Available in capacities of 750GB and 1TB, the new storage solution features a SATA 3Gbps interface, a working speed of 5400RPM and 8MB of buffer memory. The usage of SilentSeek and NoiseGuard technologies ensure lower sound output.

Claimed to offer 20% increased read/write performance and 4% lower power consumption, the new HDDs are expected to become available soon.
